Looking into elements which are imbedded within our national psyche, I'm attempting to offer the viewer a clue or comment to the themes of the everyday, and the trials, tribulations and struggles we all go through in our desires to win and achieve.
Using a broad range of media including sculpture, film and performance the work focus is on the thin threshold which divides art and craft.
By playing with the subject matter the work reveals the friction which exists between actual everyday life and social expectations.
The sculptural works provide us with a theatrical playful look at the world, there assemblage is often casual unforced and poised, appearing to be on the brink of collapse with the strength carefully hidden.
In addition to my studio practise I work on collaborative projects for Artlink Edinburgh.
In 2007 I together with artist Paulina Sandberg set up echo, an Edinburgh based artist run initiative. echo use inbetween spaces and unseen locations to present a smorgasbord of contemporary art, echo so far have organised interventions, a film night and most recently a group show of ten emerging artists.
