Give and Take is conceived as an exchange of ideas and instructions between Scotland Ireland and USA based artists
to culminate in group exhibitions in each country. The artists are emerging and established, come from a range of disciplines
and working methodologies. The premise is as follows:- each artist has been paired off with their transatlantic partner and
provided one another with instructions for the creation of new work.
The artists have entered into dialogue with each other and are presently working towards a show at the LCCM and a
project with PSsquared. The partners will meet for the first time at the collaborative installation in California.
The Belfast exhibition at PS2 will develop/grow on from the Feb show. The same roster of artists will have to re-address/evaluate
the work and follow a new set of instructions/rules based around the locality of the gallery. This cross pollination of ideas and
disciplines will reflect in how the works are presented. The process and product displayed together and curated to balance
alongside the source material, creating a research space feel and making use of the idiosyncrasies of the space and location in
both countries. Finishing with a hybrid exhibition of work, a conglomerate of ideas and inputs that creatively addresses the role of
influence and authorship. Keep checking below for updates and links for more details on the project.
